LETTER: Meskers Earned Gun Sense Candidate Distinction from Moms Demand Action

Submitted by John Cooper, Greenwich DATA Lead, Moms Demand Action

You can be either part of the solution or part of the problem. That is why I am supporting Representative Steven Meskers for re-election to the
Connecticut State Legislature in the 150th District.

Representative Meskers has once again earned a Gun Sense Candidate Distinction from Moms Demand Action. A distinction earned by committing to protect the citizens of Connecticut from the scourge of gun violence that continues to harm us.

Connecticut is a state with some of the strongest gun laws in the nation. But in an average year, 184 Connecticut residents still die due to guns. And someone dies by gun suicide almost every three days. Too many families and communities are still impacted by gun violence. Just last week there were 4 gun-related homicides in Bridgeport. We don’t have to live this way!

During Steve’s first two years in Hartford, great progress was made in Connecticut. Thanks to advocacy from Representative Meskers and many of his colleagues, the legislators passed three common sense gun laws.

However, there is more work to do around modernizing our red flag law and supporting proven gun violence intervention programs, such as Project Longevity.

There are so many reasons to send Steve Meskers back to Hartford, his dedication, effectiveness and collegiality all make him the best candidate to represent the 150th going forward.

Steve has demonstrated time and again that he is committed to ending gun violence and to making our communities safer. That is why he has my support. Please join me and millions of Americans by being a gun sense voter in this election.
