GPS Media Assistant: Parents, you are about to find out just how “efficient” things are going to be this school year.

For transparency, My Name is Andrea Casson. I am employed as a Media Assistant in the Greenwich Public Schools. I serve on the RTM in District 4. The opinions shared are my own.

To the Greenwich Public Schools Parents and Citizens of Greenwich:

As the new school year commences, please take a moment to reflect and thank the Republican BET members who brought you here. Are you frustrated with the new start times? Thank them. Are you puzzled by the absence of some teachers you hoped would teach your child this year? Whoops, they moved to another district because their already terrible commute would have been even longer with the new start times. Are you confused at not seeing support personnel welcoming and working with your children?

Why, you might ask, is the media center understaffed? Oh, your Media Assistant is now only there part time. Please take a moment to thank those BET Republicans that cut 4 million dollars from the budget and also thank the Republican BOE members that suggested that the Superintendent find “efficiencies,” and even asked, “What do those school secretaries do all day anyway and why are there so many of them?”

Well parents, you are about to find out just how “efficient” things are going to be this school year. And as the self- inflicted chaos ensues, please take a moment to give credit to our Republican BET friends that forced these cuts with no supporting data, just that warm fuzzy feeling of “it felt appropriate.”

They also claimed that this cut was “looking out for the taxpayers.” Guess what? Several Greenwich Taxpayers lost their jobs due to this! Maybe they weren’t really looking out for working people after all. Don’t forget to vote them out in November.
