Former BOE Chair Genny Krob: Re-Elect Bernstein for Board of Education

Letter to the editor submitted by Genny Krob, former Chair of the Board of Education, Oct 24, 2017

On November 7, town voters will make a crucial decision about the Republican membership on the Board of Education. I will be voting for Peter Bernstein.

In Greenwich, we elect 242 BET and RTM members to safeguard the town’s budget. But the only elected officials charged to ensure quality education for our town’s nearly 9,000 school-age children are the 8 members of our Board of Education.

So much depends on the ability of the 8 school board members to work effectively with each other, the superintendent and administrators, the rest of town government, and the many community constituencies that have an interest in our schools.

Peter Bernstein has proven that he has the character, integrity and experience needed for effective and productive service on the BOE. He is focused on student learning. He sees the big picture, and works to represent and support all students across the district. He is fiscally responsible. He does not use his board position as a platform for non-school agendas. He understands the critical importance of the BOE’s work to the futures of our children, and to the quality of life in our community.

Please join me in re-electing Peter Bernstein to the Board of Education on November 7.

Genny Krob, Cos Cob
Former Chair of the Greenwich Board of Education
