CROW: I’m Hearing Voters are Concerned about Inflation, School Safety, Gun Safety and Abortion

Submitted by Trevor Crow, Democratic Candidate for State Senate, District 36

Dear Greenwich, Stamford, and New Canaan neighbors:

It has been a pleasure and my honor to be speaking to our voters throughout our district for the past six months by knocking on thousands of doors and making hundreds of phone calls.

What I am hearing is everyone is concerned about inflation and the economy, school safety and safe gun laws, and most importantly, the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade.

My response to concerns about the economy is that given my 5 years working on Wall Street, and my Harvard MBA, I am well-equipped to understand how we can tackle inflation and help families here in our district. I will work with our current administration to continue to lower taxes, create more government efficiencies and bring more businesses to the state, creating jobs and thereby lowering taxes.

Regarding school safety and safe gun laws, I received CAGV’s (Connecticut Against Gun Violence) endorsement. My aim would be to further tighten gun laws, (which we already have some of the tightest in the country).

I want to introduce legislation that would train mental health care professionals to be mandated reporters, just like doctors, allowing them to identify and safeguard people who possess guns and who pose an imminent threat to themselves or others.

As a mental health professional who has been practicing for the past 15 years as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I know there are opportunities to intervene to prevent gun violence.

As for the Supreme Court overturning Roe v Wade, here in CT, we have codified the law, which means it can still be changed by legislators and the governor should Republicans become the majority party. One of the first things I would do as a legislator is to introduce a constitutional amendment for Roe v Wade so a majority change in the party would not threaten our reproductive rights.

My opponent Ryan Fazio’s efforts to help families, moms, and kids coping with inflation is disastrously absent regarding the economy. Where do I start?

He voted against funding expanding childcare after its collapse from COVID. Fazio voted against a child tax credit as well as the gas tax holiday, and he voted against free bus transportation.

Fazio has voted against not only paid family leave, a living wage, but he has also written that he is against businesses making accommodations for breast feeding and pregnant women in the workforce. Fazio voted against school-based health clinics and funding for mental health professionals. For seniors, Fazio voted against ending taxes on annuities and pensions. Fazio hasn’t helped CT families combat inflation at all.

The most extreme vote that Fazio made should make everyone’s blood run cold. He voted against making CT a safe-haven state.

In effect, he voted to allow another state to extradite a person seeking reproductive health in our state. He has aligned himself with extremists across our country who would allow women to be extradited and prosecuted for trying to obtain an abortion.

Furthermore, our safe-haven status has made us a magnet for businesses and students coming to our state. This will certainly impact our CT economy in a positive way, creating jobs, and lowering taxes.
Economically, Fazio hasn’t helped families, businesses, or schools in our state.

Do we really want him representing us?
