YMCA Greenwich Launches New Membership Program for Town Employees

Today, in partnership with the Town of Greenwich, the Greenwich YMCA launched a new membership tier called Better Together.

Better Together offers a lowered membership rate for all Town of Greenwich employees, making it easier than ever for the Town to support its employees’ wellness journey.

The YMCA of Greenwich offers a wide range of wellness programs from personal training to group fitness classes including Zumba, Yoga, Spin, Fit for Life, Barre and Aqua Classes.

“The YMCA is committed to building a strong community by helping people reach their potential. This program is a small way to acknowledge and thank all those whose public service supports the common good of our community,” said Matthew Skaarup, Chief Executive Officer, YMCA of Greenwich. “Research from the CDC has shown that healthy employees not only have a better quality of life at home but are also more likely to perform well in the workplace.”

Better Together provides a simple and valuable means for the Town of Greenwich to support its employees’ health through the YMCA’s robust program offerings.

“What differentiates Better Together from some of the other options in the market is that it connects Town of Greenwich employees to their larger community as well as to a local non-profit organization that is dedicated to serving and benefiting that same community,” Skaarup added.

Better Together includes full access to the YMCA of Greenwich’s Group Fitness Classes such as Yoga, Zumba, Spin, Fit for Life, Aqua Classes; warm water and Olympic size pools with open swim times; open pickleball times; access to the YMCA Wellness center; community programs such as Parkinson’s Body & Mind and LIVESTRONG; discounts on fee-based programs; and more.

Additionally, the YMCA is committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of income, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive by providing financial assistance for those who may not be able to afford the full cost of programs and services.

“The Town of Greenwich is thrilled to partner with the YMCA and offer our employees the Better Together option in achieving their health and wellness goals,” said Fred Camillo, First Selectman in a release. “ The Town has over 3,000 employees and Better Together aligns with our commitment to building a stronger community.”

Camillo noted the YMCA has something for everyone, from multiple fitness areas, two pools and programs that support the entire family.

“The Town of Greenwich places a profound emphasis on total health that is captured in the Y’s logo, mind, body, and spirit,” he added. “This partnership between the Town and the Y endeavors to promote the health of all three.”
