Greenwich Hospital’s Stroke Center has earned Advanced Primary Stroke Center Certification from The Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.
This prestigious recognition signifies that Greenwich Hospital meets rigorous national standards for stroke care and is devoted to providing the highest level of treatment for patients experiencing stroke. The hospital earned the same certification in 2023, continuing its steadfast commitment to clinical excellence.
Advanced certification reflects the hospital’s ability to provide timely, evidence-based care that improves outcomes for stroke patients from rapid diagnosis and intervention to rehabilitation and follow-up care. The evaluation process included a comprehensive review of the Stroke Center’s clinical protocols, patient outcomes, quality improvement measures and staff expertise.
The Joint Commission’s advanced certification programs are considered the gold standard in healthcare quality. Achieving this designation means Greenwich Hospital has demonstrated excellence in delivering safe, effective and patient-centered stroke care in alignment with best practices established by the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association.
The Advanced Primary Stroke Center Certification assures the community that patients have access to high-quality stroke care close to home. The Stroke Center at Greenwich Hospital offers treatments such as clot-busting medications, as well as mechanical thrombectomies, a minimally invasive procedure that removes blood clots from the brain.
“Earning this advanced certification is a testament to the dedication, skill and teamwork of our physicians, nurses, therapists and support staff who deliver exceptional stroke care every day,” said Bob Blenderman, PA, president, Greenwich Hospital. “In a situation where timing is crucial, our team is ready with the expertise and technology to give patients the best chance for recovery.”
