Greenwich Hospital Reports Steady Fall in Covid-19 Cases

On Wednesday, Greenwich Hospital president Diane Kelly shared good news. As of Wednesday just four Covid patients were being treated at the hospital, with none in the ICU.

Across the entire Yale New Health System they were treating just 93 Covid-positive patients.

“The more people who get vaccinated – I include the booster – it is definitely helping us as a society. We’re really seeing a good, steady decline in all areas,” she continued, adding, “People are mindful about social distancing and appropriate hand washing. We’re also seeing, as a society, much less flu prevalence. Definitely people’s behaviors are having a positive impact on our health.”

“I’m really hopeful that our re entry back into the world is going to be smooth,” Ms Kelly added.

Ms Kelly said the deadline for Greenwich Hospital staff to have their third booster is March 31. While Ms Kelly did not have the exact number of staff fully vaccinated, she said, “I’m expecting it to be very high because without it, they don’t keep employment.”

“I’m very optimistic as we move into the spring season, with all of the people who are vaccinated, and with all of the information that we have a society know, that we will see a better day,” she added.

Easing of Mask Mandates

Last week First Selectman Fred Camillo announced the mask mandate for town buildings would be lifted on Friday, Feb 18.

On Wednesday night the Board of Education is holding a remote meeting to discuss mask policy for children in Greenwich Schools.
