Nationwide needs assessments of young women (under age 55) diagnosed with breast cancer showed that they wanted more information and support on specific survivorship issues.
Recognizing that everyone’s journey differs, the Breast Center at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Greenwich has partnered with the national organization Living Beyond Breast Cancer to host a series of lectures to kick off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Living Beyond Breast Cancer provides trusted information and a community of support.
This webinars offer tips and tools to help survivors cope with a diagnosis and common side effects, build confidence, and empower them to take charge of their health. Topics address early menopause, long-term effects of treatment, sex and intimacy, and self-care after breast cancer. Greenwich Hospital’s Heather Studwell, MS, OTR/L, oncology survivorship coordinator, and Carolyn Maguire, RN, OCN, breast oncology nurse coordinator, will host the series.
