Field Club Working with Greenwich Health Dept after Staff, Club Members Sickened in Restaurant

On Friday morning Greenwich Health Dept’s Michael Long, Director of Environmental Service, confirmed that the restaurant at the Field Club at 276 Lake Ave has closed after people became sick after eating there last weekend, which was Easter weekend.

“The Field Club closed themselves and we’re working with them and the State Health Dept to see what’s going on,” Long said. “There have been a number of illnesses with staff and club members.”

Long said he could not confirm how many people fell sick.

“We’re trying to get a handle on numbers. It’s pretty new,” he said. “We’re looking and talking to kitchens staff to see what they’re doing as far as clean up.”

Long said complaints followed Easter weekend, and were from both restaurant staff and club members.

“The restaurant is closed for now, and planning on staying closed until we get a handle on exactly what transpired,” Long said, adding that those who fell sick were vomiting and nauseous. “We’re still working to determine the entire scope.”

Club members reported that when trying to make restaurant reservations for this upcoming weekend, they were told their calls would be returned, but they did not hear back.
