Old Greenwich Fine Wines & Cheese Presents “Gold Coast Wine Show” at Chelsea Piers

Tasting wine can be fun. It can also be work. Rob Petz, manager at Old Greenwich Fine Wines & Cheese said he and owner Robert Zalkin often attend tasting events organized to connect retailers to wholesalers.

“At the wholesale events we get to taste a ton of great wines and then the salespeople go their way,” Petz said. “We thought why can’t that experience be brought down to the customer level.”

“We wanted to do something like the Wine Spectator grand tasting event in New York City,” Mr. Petz said. “There’s nothing like it in Fairfield County.”

The Gold Coast Wine Show is set for Oct. 3, from 1:00 to 6:00pm at Chelsea Piers Loft, a 3,500 sq ft customizable event space where guests will have the opportunity to taste over 200 exceptional wines. Wines will be available for purchase at deep discounts.

Proceeds form the event will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter. “I see the effects of Alzheimer’s. I have relatives who have succumbed to Alzheimers and family members who are suffering with it,” Mr. Petz said.

For tickets to the Saturday, Oct. 3 event, order online before they sell out. There is a discount for purchasing before Sept. 15 ($79). After Sept. 15, or at the door, tickets will be $89.00.
