The Greenwich Farmers Market in the Horseneck lot opens for the season at 9:30am on Saturday, May 17.
This year the Greenwich Farmers Market will feature three new vendors, one of which is a familiar face in town, Jackie Mendive, with her freshly made Empanadas on the Go. Buy them fresh and heat them up for a meal, or freeze them for a last minute meal or hors d’oeuvres for entertaining. Versatile and delicious, keep them handy – from freezer to oven, ready in 15 to 20 minutes.
We interviewed Mendive back a few years ago. Since then her artisanal empanadas have really taken off, and area available at numerous farmers markets.
At the time, Mendive explained, “We’re from Argentina where you can just make a call call and get delivery of empanadas, something you don’t find here. Empanadas are like our Sunday pizza!”
