“In Search of Light” Exhibit Continues at Gertrude White Gallery through December

Inside the YWCA Greenwich, a new exhibit at the Gertrude White Gallery, “In Search of Light, Looking through a lens,” brings together the evocative works of two distinct yet complementary artists: Jonathan Spector and Anne Knife.

On Saturday the artists held a well-attended reception in the gallery, where Ms Knife explained that many of her digital paintings are of swimmers attending lifeguard training.

Using untraditional elements on her computer, Knife creates dreamlike images that transport viewers to a world suspended between memory and imagination. Her work is a reflection on time, capturing the subtle beauty of light and composition while infusing each image with personal meaning.

Mr. Spector, a surf photographer and Long Beach native, immerses himself in the raw power of the ocean year-round, capturing its untamed beauty through the lens of his Canon R5. Swimming in icy, 34° waters, often in solitude, Jonathan’s work reveals the textures and rhythm of the sea as waves crash around him.

His photographic practice is driven by a passion for motion and light, with each shot embodying the tension between the dangerous currents and the serene beauty beneath the surface.

The exhibit runs through December. The Gertrude White Gallery is located inside the YWCA Greenwich, 259 East Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06830.
