Historical Society Announces Fall 2021 Events

Creativity has been at the heart of the Historical Society’s Cos Cob campus from its early days when Bush Holley House served as an important center of American Impressionism.

This fall the series of events celebrate creative expression in many forms in the historic barn, coupled with cocktails and camaraderie.

“Home decorating and entertaining themes are popular with our members, especially now that the cooler weather is here and the holidays will soon be upon us,” says Marketing Director Cai Pandolfino. “We’ve partnered with Greenwich Realtor Karen McKenna to bring intimate hands-on workshops on how to create appetizing ‘grazing’ boards, Thanksgiving centerpieces, holiday wreathmaking and more. Participants can take their creations home to enjoy.”

Create in the Barn series includes:

Design, Feed, Eat, Entertain with Graze New York: These “graze” boards are meant to be shared and enjoyed as a group. Beautiful, delicious, and communal and sure to inspire. September 23, 6:30 pm. Members: $80, Non-members $90.

Mixed Media Painting with Katy Garry: Garry’s pop art expressionist approach is heavily influenced by pop culture and the environment that she desires to create. Participants will create their own unique canvas, learning to incorporate motion, color, and dynamic balance in their artwork. October 21 at 6:30pm. Members $80; Non-members $90.

Thanksgiving Tablescape: Create a succulent, pumpkin- inspired centerpiece for holiday tables, incorporating striking autumnal natural elements including mosses & leaves, pumpkins, succulents and more. November 18 at 6:30pm. Members $90; non-members $100:

Holiday Wreathmaking Workshop with Red Flower Truck: Create a beautiful one-of-a-kind wreath that speaks to unique decorating tastes and style.  Includes a fresh evergreen wreath and a selection of decorations, bows embellishments. December 3 at 6:30pm. Members: $90 Non-members $100
