A change in the Town’s annual fireworks displays to be held at Binney Park and Greenwich Point Park was announced Friday afternoon.

Because of the National Weather Service forecast for severe thunderstorms on Saturday evening (July 6, 2019), the fireworks displays are now scheduled for Sunday, July 7, 2019.

“It is with an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of the thousands of Greenwich residents who attend each fireworks show that we have made the decision to postpone the shows until Sunday,” said Parks & Rec Director Joe Siciliano in the announcement.

“The decision was made during a meeting of my staff with emergency service departments including the Greenwich Police and Greenwich Fire departments, and in consultation with Emergency Management Director Dan Warzoha,” Siciliano added.

The fireworks shows will now be held at approximately 9:10 p.m. Sunday in Binney Park and at approximately 9:35pm at Greenwich Point Park.

Pets are not permitted at Greenwich Point Park and should not be brought to Binney Park.

All spectators are strongly urged to bring a working flashlight.

In the event of rain on Sunday, the shows will be rescheduled.

The fireworks hotline to call for the latest updates is 203-861-6100.
