Scouts and their families took part in platform diving, inner-tube water polo, lap swim and aqua-inflatables at the YMCA Scout Night event Sunday, February 26.
The large inflatable slide and obstacle course in the Olympic size pool set the stage for a great event.
“Everyone had an amazing time,” said Heather Lowthert, Program Director for the Greenwich Council, BSA.
“It was incredible to see all the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and their parents and siblings swimming in the pool. Most of our Council events take place at Seton Scout Reservation so this was a unique setting to bring our Scouting families together.”
The idea for the family Scout Night stemmed from a conversation at a Boy Scout Troop pancake breakfast fundraiser between YMCA Chief Executive Officer, Bob DeAngelo and Greenwich Council President, Vince LaPadula.
“The Y was thrilled to have Scout families have so much fun in our pool,” DeAngelo said. “We want to strengthen the bonds between the YMCA and the Boy Scouts!”
The Greenwich YMCA and Greenwich Council, BSA programs focus on youth development and healthy living. Both organizations have been serving the Greenwich community for over 100 years.
