Greenwich Sailing Enthusiasts Battle Spotted Lanternflies with Humor on Long Island Sound

A group of avid sailors had a good sense of humor this week.

The group dressed as spotted lantern flies and Orkin guys for the Riverside Yacht Club’s Tin Horn Boat Race, which was last Thursday Vespers race for season.

According to Betsy Keller, the planthoppers, indigenous to parts of China and Vietnam that have spread invasively to the United States, recently invaded the Greenwich Cove.

Over Labor Day weekend the bugs hitchhiked on boards and kayaks.
