For those of us who fell in love with the original Little Pub in Ridgefield, news that the owners, Daneen and Doug Grabe, are opening in Greenwich will be greeted enthusiastically.

In Ridgefield, the Grabes transformed what had been an antique store at the corner of Rt 7 and Rt 102  into a restaurant with a unique beer menu in 2009. They preserved the features of the historic building so that guests experience the feel of a centuries old British pub when they step inside.

Since it opened, the original Little Pub was an instant hit. On a busy night, which is many nights of the week, valet  attendants help accommodate cars in the busy parking lot and  friends and families wait eagerly for tables inside and out.

The summer menu features little pub burger varieties including the French Onion, with melting brie cheese, caramelized onions, “heavy on the garlic, and aioli.

The Steakhouse features crispy smoked bacon, caramelized onions, melting cheddar and steakhouse mayo. Burgers come with choice of crispy french fries or sweet potato fries. Other little pub faves include lobster mac and cheese, moo shu pork soft tacos, and chick’n waffles.

The beer menu features 14 imported beers in bottles, and 22 oz bombers including Stone Arrogant Bastard and Allagash Black Belgian Stout. But from there, the choices continue. The menu features ipa’s from Berkshire Brewing Company, delivered fresh weekly, as well as five beers on tap, plus 16 domestic craft beers with names like Abita Strawberry Lager and New England Brewing Sea Hag ipa.

Wilton residents thrilled at the chance to claim their own Little Pub when the Grabes open a second location there last year. But it was still a journey for all of us in Greenwich. So, it is just fantastic news to hear that Little Pub will soon open a third location at 531 East Putnam Ave in Cos Cob.

A major renovation has transformed the old Fonda La Paloma restaurant. In fact, the colorful plastic flag streamers are already a fading memory.

Welcome to Greenwich, Little Pub. We hope you open for biz soon.
