Greenwich Botanical Center Announces 2021 May Gardeners Market and Early Buyers Sale

May Gardeners Market will be held on Saturday, May 1 from 9:00am to 2:00pm at the Greenwich Botanical Center at 130 Bible Street in Cos Cob.

Now in its 59th year, the event will feature a variety of dealers who will gather in the Montgomery Pinetum to offer a wide assortment of plants, horticulturally inspired accessories, and organic food products.

Sign-up online for the May Gardeners Market Early Buyers’ Sale on Wednesday, April 28 from 3-7:00pm. Enjoy the first pick of plant material offered by the Greenwich Botanical Center! Half-hour time slots must be booked in advance at www.greenwichbotanicalcenter.org.  Park right out front and walk around at your leisure. Admission to the Early Buyer’s sale is $20 for GBC members and $25 for non-members. Artisan teas will be provided for patrons.

For both the April 28th Early Buyers’ Sale and the May 1st Gardeners Market  asks that you shop smart, 6 feet apart. COVID-19 precautions are in effect and masks are required.

Many longtime May Gardeners Market vendors will return on May 1. Perennial favorite McCue Gardens, who specializes in wildflowers and native plants, Moorefield Farm with herbs and interesting succulents and Gazy Brothers Farm with their fabulous hanging baskets and fresh produce. Local fare will be available through Empanadas On The Go, and Lulu’s Pies with live music entertainment by Mark Zelenz.

Other favorite vendors include Birdhouse Brokerage, Burb Bakes, Cricket Hill Tree Peonies, Smith Acres, Spear Head Spade and Young Living Essential Oils and GBC’s Greenwich Dahlia Society.

Due to covid restrictions, we are unable to provide a shuttle for this year’s May Gardeners Market.  Parking is available on May 1st at Moretti Field on Bible Street where a marked trail through the woods will lead to the market. Additional parking is available at the end of Montgomery Lane, just a short walk from the GBC.  A designated plant pick-up area will be provided so that you may return with your car to pick up your purchases.

The May Gardeners Market continues to thrive as a popular community event for Greenwich residents and many others in Fairfield and Westchester County. This annual fundraiser supports the Educational and Senior Outreach programs of the Greenwich Botanical Center.
