“Just for GEMS” Fundraiser at Caren’s Cos Cobber Set for Wednesday

“Just for GEMS,” an event held annually to benefit Greenwich Emergency Medical Service (GEMS) will be held at Caren’s Cos Cobber Restaurant, 31 East Putnam Avenue, Cos Cob, CT on Wednesday, May 21 from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm.

A portion of the day’s proceeds will be donated to GEMS. At this time, unlike on other weekdays, the restaurant owner, Caren St. Phillip, opens the establishment for breakfast, as well as for lunch and dinner.

The event affords attendees an opportunity to partake of excellent food, enjoy congenial company, and contribute to a very worthy cause.

GEMS is an independent 501 (c) 3 corporation.  While it receives money from the Town of Greenwich to operate, it must raise funds separately to purchase and equip its ambulances.  A new ambulance costs approximately  $450,000, excluding equipment.  GEMS has an outstanding operating record, with some of the fastest response times in the country.
