Former Pepsi CEO Indra Nooyi to be Honored at Girls with Impact Benefit

The nonprofit Girls With Impact today announced that its 4th annual Women’s History Month Gala will honor former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, one of Time100’s most influential CEOs.

The signature event raises funds for Girls With Impact, (GWI), the nation’s leading Business & Leadership educational program for under-resourced young women, which has equipped over 16,000 with critical skills, tools, and confidence to succeed in the workplace and beyond.

“All around us – from New York to Connecticut – are amazing women who have blazed trails so that the next generation of women has a real shot at achieving equal opportunity in the workplace,” said Jennifer Openshaw, Founder & CEO of Girls With Impact and a trailblazer in Silicon Valley’s early days.

“This event and Indra’s participation is a powerful opportunity to recognize the women who’ve impacted each of us – at home, at work, in the community – and support our goal of igniting the futures of 50,000 under-resourced young women and girls by 2026.”

Ms. Nooyi went from serving as a nighttime receptionist to becoming the first woman of color and first immigrant to head a Fortune 50 company. She is also the author of “My Life in Full.”

The February 29th event, presented by Eagle Point Credit on the eve of Women’s History Month, will also honor Juanita James, former CEO of Fairfield County’s Community Foundation (FCCF) and now on the state’s Board of Regents, for her leadership in philanthropy. Ms. James and the FCCF were instrumental in providing seed funding for GWI.

This year, GWI is offering participating corporate partners the opportunity to recognize their own Emerging Leaders, those women under 30 who are trailblazers in the workplace.

The Gala will be held at l’escale restaurant on Greenwich Harbor, featuring an exclusive live auction, entertainment, and dinner by Award-winning Chef Frederic Kieffer.

Girls With Impact’s educational program has been featured nationwide for its innovation in bridging the racial divide and creating access to critical career preparation.
