Business Leaders for Sustainability to Launch at February Event at Greenwich Library

Business Leaders for Sustainability, an international networking group for C-Suite executives focused on developing sustainability educational resources, sharing best responsibility practices, and facilitating measurable collaborations, has announced that it will be launching its organization at a special event on the evening of February 28.

The event, featuring theatrical performances by JIB Productions, will be held at the Greenwich Library’s Marx Family Black Box Theater in Greenwich from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

JIB Productions will be presenting two one act plays on the environment and climate change as well as a reading of “Earthrise” by Amanda Gorman.

Tickets are $30 for non-members and free for members of BLFS, with a portion of proceeds benefiting Greenwich Community Gardens. Seating is limited. Reservations can be made by email at [email protected]. Non-members will be invoiced via Paypal.

The event will include a tasting of organic foods from Garelick & Herbs, and organic and sustainably-grown wines from WineWise as well as a talkback with the performers and guests.

“I am thrilled to launch our organization in collaboration with JIB Productions. Sustainability and climate change are complex, emotional, and weighty topics. As hard as it often is to start these conversations and then act on them, it is vital that we do so now,” said Kathryn Minckler, Founder of Business Leaders for Sustainability, adding, “The performance is designed to provide a unique and compelling backdrop for inspiring conversations that can lead to corporate innovation, best practices sharing, and new collaborations.

Minckler said the will be a first important step toward building a leadership community for decision makers to purposely learn, celebrate, and work together toward sustainability and business responsibility excellence.

“In turn, we are thrilled to introduce and support the amazing successes at Greenwich Community Gardens.”

“This is a remarkable challenge,” said Carole Schweid, Artistic Director of JIB Productions, “a huge opportunity to raise awareness of sustainability and climate change, promoting education, advocacy, and activism. Theater is a powerful tool, and we are beyond excited to ‘use’ these killer good plays to open up the conversation and help create a ‘call to action.’

Nothing reaches into an audience’s heart like live theater, and it is a privilege to be partnering with BLFS, to open minds, expand possibilities, and join other business leaders in finding solutions to these overwhelming and complex issues. Makes me very proud to be part of it.
