Book Swap at Hollly Hill Seeks Volunteers

Greenwich’s Holly Hill Recycling Center has a Book Swap and outdoor library of over 3,000 free books for Greenwich residents and is open Friday and Saturday mornings from 7:00am – 12:00noon.

On a typical day the book swap gets 150 visitors and accepts and sorts over 1,000 incoming books.

The book swap volunteers are looking for people to volunteer one or two times a month to work Friday or Saturday mornings from 8:00am -12:00noon.

“It’s a great opportunity if you like books, and it is helpful if you are comfortable lifting boxes of up to 30 lbs,” said Lorrie Stapleton, a longtime book swap volunteer.

If you want to learn more about what they do, check out the Books4Everyone.org website or Facebook page. Since they can’t use all the books they receive from generous Greenwich donors, they deliver excess books to nursing homes, senior centers, homeless shelters, community organizations and schools throughout Fairfield County. (The volunteer shifts noted here are entirely at 99 Holly Hill at the Book Shed).
