North Mianus School 5th Graders Shine in “Finding Nemo Kids” Production

North Mianus School proudly presented the school’s spring musical, Finding Nemo Kids, on March 26 and 27, featuring an enthusiastic cast of 53 fifth-grade students.

For many of these young performers, the production marked their very first experience on stage—making the performances all the more special for students, families, and the school community.

In Finding Nemo Kids, Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves.

Directed by Jennifer Dunn, with music direction by Robin Chenot and vibrant costumes by Ana Laborde, the show brought the beloved underwater story to life with vibrant energy, creativity, and heart.

Students spent weeks rehearsing, building confidence and practicing teamwork. This annual production is an underwritten partnership with Open Arts Alliance, whose support helped guide students through every step of the theatrical process—from auditions to final curtain call.

Dunn shared, “I love watching how our students get to know each other in new capacities during their time working on this collaborative project together.”

Hundreds of enthusiastic audience members were delighted by the students’ hard work and dedication, as well as their willingness to step outside their comfort zones. The production not only entertained but also fostered a sense of accomplishment and community among the cast.

North Mianus School celebrates all 53 students for their courage, commitment, and outstanding performances, and extends sincere thanks to the creative team and partners who made this memorable experience possible.
