Greenwich’s Own Andrew Marantz, Author of Anti Social, to Speak at Greenwich Library

As part of their AuthorsLive series, GreenwichLibrary will feature a talk by Greenwich’s own Andrew Marantz, author of Antisocial: Online Extremists, Techno-utopians and the Hijacking of the American Conversation in the Flinn Gallery on Friday, January 24, 2020, 7:00pm to 8:00pm.

Marantz, a Greenwich native and staff writer at The New Yorker, Marantz, will discuss his new book with Greenwich Time editor Tom Mellana.

Praised by The New York Times as “trenchant and intelligent,” Antisocial reveals how the boundaries between technology, media, and politics have been erased, resulting in a deeply broken informational landscape.

Marantz shows how alienated young people are led down the rabbit hole of online radicalization, and how fringe ideas spread. Marantz also sits with the creators of social media as they start to reckon with the forces they’ve unleashed.

Mark your calendars for this fascinating and timely conversation as Marantz discusses the important question: Will they be able to solve the communication crisis they helped bring about, or are their interventions too little too late?
