GHS Jazz Festival Set for March 23 in the Performing Arts Center

The Greenwich High School music department is hosting the 37th annual GHS Jazz Festival on Saturday, March 23 at the Performing Arts Center from 8:50am-6:00pm.

The event features 10 bands visiting and performing throughout the day from as far away as Canada and eight top tier New York City based jazz clinicians giving masterclasses on all jazz instruments.

The Greenwich High School Jazz Ensemble plays at 8:50 am.

All Star NY Pro Clinicians will perform at 1:00 pm.

Everything at the jazz festival is open to the public.

There is a suggested donation of $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Crenshaw

At the 2016 Jazz Festival, competition judge Chris Crenshaw said he started playing piano at age three and took up the trombone at age 11. He received his Master’s in Jazz Studies from The Julliard School. In 2006, he joined the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and in 2012, he composed God’s Trombones, a spiritually focused work which was premiered by the orchestra at Jazz at Lincoln Center. File photo
