Children’s Learning Centers of Fairfield County Presents “120 Club – An Evening with Vanessa Williams”

Children’s Learning Centers of Fairfield County (CLC) will celebrate its 120th anniversary with a special evening, “120 Club: An Evening with Vanessa Williams,” on Friday, June 3, at Serafina at the IC in Stamford. Alexis Gevanter, CLC Board Member, is serving as the event chair.

As the second-largest early childhood education provider in Connecticut, CLC has been a leader in developing and implementing high-quality and affordable early childhood education and care programs since 1902. With 8 locations in Stamford and statewide influence around early childhood education advocacy, CLC is licensed to serve almost 1,000 children who live across Fairfield County.

“Children’s Learning Centers of Fairfield County plays a critical role in educating and caring for children in our community. We are looking forward to celebrating the impact we’ve had over the past 120 with our supporters during our most important fundraiser of the year,” said CLC Chief Executive Officer Marc E. Jaffe. “The spring benefit has always been our signature fundraising event, allowing us to raise critical funds to support our programs.”

CLC is proud to welcome Vanessa Williams, one of the most respected and multi-faceted performers in the entertainment industry today. Having sold millions of records worldwide, Vanessa has also achieved numerous #1 and Top 10 hits on various Billboard Album and Singles charts: Pop, Dance, R&B, Adult Contemporary, Holiday, Latin, Gospel, and Jazz.

Williams is currently performing in a new Broadway comedy, “POTUS,” at the Shubert Theatre. Her critically acclaimed work in film, television, recordings, and the Broadway stage has been recognized by every major industry award affiliate, including 4 Emmy nominations, 11 Grammy nominations, a Tony nomination, and 3 SAG award nominations, 7 NAACP Image Awards, and 3 Satellite Awards. Her platinum single “Colors of the Wind,” from Disney’s Pocahontas, won the Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

CLC will award Connecticut Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro with the CLC Champion of Children Award for her unwavering and longtime dedication to children. DeLauro has long been a passionate and vocal champion for the vulnerable, with decades of advocacy on behalf of all children bringing a lasting impact in the areas of education, health, and nutrition.

Currently, DeLauro serves as the Chair of the House Appropriations Committee and sits on the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee. She is the Chair of the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Subcommittee, where she oversees our nation’s investments in education, health, and employment.
