I am supporting Jill Oberlander for State Senator.
The strongest case for Jill comes from people who have worked beside her. They consistently describe her as someone who arrives prepared, asks questions, understands budgets and listens, especially when people disagree. Those habits are what we need in our next state senator.
Jill knows that good intentions must become workable policies. As Greenwich’s first Democratic chair of the Board of Estimate and Taxation, she worked with Republican and Democratic colleagues to weigh competing needs and make financial decisions. On the Board of Selectmen, she helped guide Greenwich through the pandemic. Her service on the Representative Town Meeting adds perspective on how government decisions affect daily life.
That experience will matter in Hartford. Any legislative initiative will require understanding the details, weighing tradeoffs and building enough support to act. Jill’s relationships across Connecticut, developed through years of public service, will help her make our district’s case and find partners to advance it.
Her priorities reflect the concerns discussed around the kitchen table: whether young families can afford to settle here, whether older neighbors can remain in their homes, and whether our tax dollars are being spent wisely. She understands that excellent schools and responsible spending belong together, and that reliable trains and better roads strengthen our economy.
Equally important is her temperament. She is a leader who can disagree without dismissing people, compromise without surrendering her principles, and explain difficult decisions honestly. Representing Greenwich, Stamford and New Canaan requires that combination of independence and respect.
We deserve a senator who will do the homework, build alliances and keep our needs at the center of every decision. Jill has demonstrated those qualities in office, under pressure and across party lines. She will bring them to Hartford.
Please join me in voting for Jill Oberlander for State Senate.
Yours truly,
Bill Finger
