On Saturday night at approximately 10:05pm, Greenwich firefighters responded to a fire alarm at Greenwich Catholic School, located at 471 North Street.
The Fire Dept said in a post that while investigating the alarm, firefighters encountered a smoke condition and located a fire in one of the classrooms.
Crews quickly stretched several hoselines and knocked down the fire. The fire was declared under control in approximately 15 minutes.
There were no injuries to firefighters, and no one was inside the school at the time of the fire. The incident remains under investigation by the Greenwich Fire Marshal’s Office.
Approximately 30 firefighters responded to the scene. The quick and coordinated work of the crews helped prevent additional damage to the school, although one classroom did sustain significant damage.
