On on May 17 , Greenwich Police responded around 4:00pm to the Lucas Point Boat Launch for a welfare check. During their investigation, the accused, Max Angus Anker, 24 of Greenwich was displaying signs of alcohol impairment. The accused was found unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle that was still running in reverse. He was requested to submit to field sobriety tests which he refused to perform. He was then placed under arrest.
Police said they later determined that due to a previous arrest on August 3, 2025 for DWI, Mr. Anker was required to install an ignition interlock device (IID) in any vehicle he operates. At the time of his arrest on May 17, he was operating a black Porsche Cayenne that was registered to his father and did not have the IID installed.
Mr. Anker was charged with DUI and Illegal Operation of Motor Vehicle without Ignition Device.
Under Connecticut General Statutes § 14-227k(a)(2), it is illegal for an individual whose license is restricted due to a DUI to operate any motor vehicle that is not equipped with a functioning, approved Ignition Interlock Device.
Anker’s bond was set at $10,000 and he was released from custody after posting the required 7% ($700).
He was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on June 1 and, according to the CT Judicial Branch website, is due back in court on July 27, 2026.
