A local travel baseball team – the Greenwich Nationals Baseball Club – and their 8U and 9U teams went to the spring Championship (Greater Hudson Valley D3) for the first time ever on Saturday.
Both teams played on their local home turf at the Banksville Community Field House. The teams are comprised of players from around town at public and private elementary schools and is an incredible milestone for this program, as well as a true testament to the hard work, dedication and heart these players, coaches and families have shown all season long.
The 8U team won the Championship, defeating the Pomperaug Panthers 6-1 in front of an incredible home crowd at Banksville.
On the mound, the pitchers were dominant and the defense was just as impressive. The Nationals played a flawless game without committing a single error. Most importantly, this championship was the result of a true team effort. Every player contributed, every family supported, and every coach helped guide this special group throughout an unforgettable season.
Congratulations players, coaches, and families on bringing home the Greater Hudson Valley D3 Spring Championship. One team. All in.
