Over 1,000 people gathered at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park on Saturday, May 2, for HoliFest, the area’s largest Holi celebration and color throw, hosted by India Cultural Center. Families, friends, and visitors from Fairfield and Westchester Counties came together for an energetic afternoon celebrating spring, unity, and cultural connection.

Presented as an official America 250 CT Affiliate event, HoliFest highlighted the vibrant traditions of Holi while celebrating the role of Indian culture in the broader American story. Throughout the afternoon, attendees enjoyed live musicians, DJs, dance performances and workshops, cricket, badminton, henna, international food vendors, and activities for all ages, including the YMCA Kids’ Zone.
The event’s centerpiece, the massive color throw, filled the park with bursts of bright eco-friendly powder as participants launched colors into the air – and at each other – in a joyful display of community and celebration.
“HoliFest is about bringing people together across cultures, generations, and backgrounds,” said Margie French, Executive Director of India Cultural Center. “Seeing a thousand people celebrating side by side, covered in color and smiling together, was both incredibly meaningful and so much fun. The energy, joy, and sense of connection throughout the day truly reflected the spirit of Holi.”

Holi, often called the Festival of Colors, celebrates the arrival of spring and symbolizes renewal, positivity, and the triumph of good over evil. Organizers noted that the color throw serves as a powerful equalizer, where participants become united through shared celebration and experience.
The India Cultural Center also thanked the many sponsors, volunteers, performers, vendors, and community partners who helped make the event possible, including Signature Sponsor Redfin Premier, which returned for a fourth consecutive year. Dining experiences were sponsored by the Law Offices of Ayesha Chaudry.
Attendees traveled from throughout Connecticut and neighboring communities to participate in the celebration, many dressed in white to fully embrace the colorful festivities. Families spread blankets across the park, children participated in games and activities, and long lines formed at food vendors serving a variety of international cuisine.
India Cultural Center is a nonprofit organization founded to celebrate the arts and culture of India while fostering inclusion by educating and engaging the broader community. HoliFest has become one of the organization’s signature annual events and one of the largest multicultural celebrations in the region.
