Welcome 2026 with a cool dip in Long Island Sound. The annual New Year’s Day Polar Plunge at Tod’s Point is an impromptu, unofficial tradition.
The swim starts at 12:00pm sharp. Some years crowd crowds gather earlier, so plan to arrive by 11:30am to avoid major traffic jams and secure a spot for this fun tradition.

Other upcoming dates of interest for Greenwich residents include:
On January 12 the town will again hold a “Parade of Champions.”
First Selectman Fred Camillo explained at the last board meeting that, “Titletown USA” was the nickname given to Vince Lombardi’s old Green Bay Packers teams in the 1960s.
“A couple years ago I gave Greenwich the name ‘Title Town CT.’ We had set a record for the most championships in state history a few years ago, and we’re picking right up again with several more this year – we’ll be doing that parade,” he said.
Exact time and location has yet to be announced but Camillo said more details will be forthcoming.
Back in 2023, the “Parade of Champions” featured the Greenwich High School sports teams that were CT State Championships in 2022-2023, but also included cheerleaders, Boy Scouts and firetrucks.
The parade made its way from town hall to Greenwich Ave via Elm Street. Loudspeakers blasted Queen’s “We Are the Champions” as the teams filed down West Elm Street toward Greenwich Ave.
Along the route, families lined the streets to cheer on their athletes who made their way to Greenwich Commons by the Havemeyer building where the Chicken Joe’s food truck and an ice cream truck awaited.
