CT State Troopers Investigate Fatal Car vs Pedestrian Collision on I-95 in Greenwich

Around 2:30am on Saturday a 2018 Dodge Durango driven by Osvaldo O. Vela, 48, from Yonkers, NY was traveling northbound on I-95 south of exit 3 in Greenwich where there was an active construction pattern. The driver struck a pedestrian in the center median.

The pedestrian, identified as Traymont Tucker, also 39, of Waterbury, CT was pronounced dead by GEMS at 2:54am.

State Police said their preliminary investigation revealed that Mr. Tucker was working within the construction zone when the vehicle driven by Mr. Vela veered into the construction pattern, striking Mr. Tucker.

The driver of the Durango, Mr. Vela, reported minor injuries as a result of the crash and was taken to Stamford Hospital by GEMS.

The State Dept of Transportation responded to the sceneto assist with traffic control.

The Greenwich Fire Dept Greenwich police Dept also responded as did CT State Police. The Collision Analysis Reconstruction squad (CARS) responded to assist with the investigation.

The Durango was towed  from the scene and pedestrian’s next of kin were notified.
