Raabe: Fazio. Governor. No, he’s serious.

Submitted by Brian Raabe

Ryan Fazio has formed an exploratory committee for Governor of Connecticut.

There was a time that public service was, well – service, for the public good.

A lifetime of relevant experience brought to bear in service to your fellow citizen.

Quaint.

That time has yielded to the career politician.

Enter Ryan Fazio who is considering a run for governor.

At 35 years old Mr. Fazio has no career long roster of accomplishments. Not his fault, he hasn’t been around long enough.

Rather, he has embarked on a political career. An oxymoron decades ago but now  considered acceptable.

To secure employment in a lifelong role in government.

Regulating the private sector.

Nevermind Mr. Fazio’s limited experience in the private sector,

Nevermind his being a member of a party that hates government.

Career politician.

That feels like the true oxymoron, but moving on…

And please don’t come down my street waving his “commodities trader” bio. His list of accomplishments is short, as years dictate.

He graduated college in 2012.

The Wikipedia page under his name is a skilled attempt to paint him as neutral as possible on abortion and contraceptives.

There’s nothing else under political accomplishments.

Look ma, I’m a centrist?

Who knows.

Now he’s ruminating over a run for governor.

That’s nice.

Except that he’s serious.

Please point to the portion of your CV that proves you’re fit to steward a State of Connecticut economy nearly $300 billion dollars large.

Queue the silence and Jeopardy music while we wait.

“What’s a nothing burger?”

Maybe it’s part of the career politician’s plan.

Find some deep pockets to bankroll a state run, fail, but secure the kind of name recognition and statewide exposure that sets you up for the next run.

The career politician is always playing long ball.

We’ve seen the lack of relevant experience in the slate the Republicans have offered for the Board of education.

It mirrors much of what we’ve seen at a national level. Talk show hosts in positions of power. The party’s leader made famous on a reality TV show.

Experience?

“Walk loudly, carry a big stick,” to bastardize Teddy Roosevelt.

Zero modesty.  Massive hubris.

35.

2012 college grad.

“Thinking about taking a run at Governor.”

Pump the brakes my dude.
