The Greenwich Police Department reminds all motorists that speeding is not a minor traffic infraction when it endangers the public. In Connecticut, traveling more than 85 MPH constitutes Reckless Driving and is a criminal offense.
Speed limits are enforced not only for the safety of the driver, but also for the protection of residents, pedestrians, and other motorists. Driving 96 MPH in a 30 MPH residential zone puts lives at serious risk.
The Greenwich Police Department will continue proactive speed enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
