Congratulations! The Distinguished Teachers Awards Committee (DTAC) has named the 2024 Distinguished Teachers:

  • Ana Maria Fals, New Lebanon School, Grade 3

  • Johanna Kolar, Western Middle School, Math 8

  • Lian Lam, New Lebanon School, Special Education

  • Audrey Maurer, New Lebanon School, Music

  • Ilene Rietsch, North Street School, Kindergarten

  • Alyssa Stack, Greenwich High School, Social Studies

“As a committee, we are pleased with the incredible nominations we received for an enthusiastic, innovative, and driven group of educators and collaborators,” Distinguished Teacher Committee Chair said Stacy Loveless.

“Teachers are the heart of education. Looking at the pool of exceptional teachers in Greenwich Public Schools, you cannot help but feel great hope and optimism for the future, nurtured by amazing teachers,” Loveless added.

The entire GPS community is welcome to celebrate our amazing teachers at the Distinguished Teachers Award ceremony, set for 4:30pm on Thursday, May 9 at Central Middle School.

Nominations for GPS Distinguished Teachers are submitted by students, parents, and colleagues in early March each year. Each member of the Distinguished Teachers Awards Committee (DTAC), Inc. reviews every nomination packet. At the annual “vote meeting” in April, DTAC members submit their ballots anonymously and without discussion. The ballots are tallied and the six teachers with the most votes are selected to receive the Distinguished Teacher Award. The Distinguished Teachers Awards Committee includes no more than 20 members, with representatives from The Board of Education, The Greenwich Education Association (GEA), The Greenwich Organization of School Administrators (GOSA), the PTA Council, members of community organizations, parents, and many previously named Greenwich Distinguished Teachers.
