Kevin Ryan Joins Greenwich Education Group’s Spire School as Education Director

Kevin RyanKevin Ryan has joined the Spire School as Education Director. The announcement was made by Greenwich Education Group on Thursday.

For more than twenty-five years, Kevin has worked to create opportunities for students to learn and thrive in environments where they are challenged and held to high expectations while receiving the essential support. Kevin joins the Spire School following two years at the Westport Day School where he served as Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

“Spire is so fortunate to have Kevin as a part of our team. With Kevin’s background in administration and special education, he is a perfectly suited to help us achieve our future goals,” said Tammy Moscrip, Executive Director of the Spire School.

“This is an incredible opportunity for me personally and professionally,” Kevin said about joining the Spire School as its first Education Director.

“Coming to Spire in this capacity allows me to engage in an area of education I have only seen from afar. The learning curve is one I embrace with enthusiasm. My aim is to serve as the lead learner in a setting rich with eager learners, be they students, faculty, or staff.”

Kevin earned a BA in special education with a minor in psychology and a BS in special education, with a concentration in emotional disturbances, from Southern Connecticut State University. He completed post-graduate studies in school administration and supervision at Sacred Heart University, where he earned a Certificate of Advanced Studies and certification in school administration.

He joined the Farmington, Connecticut, public schools as assistant principal at Irving A. Robbins Middle School and eventually became principal. After seven years at the middle school, Kevin was appointed principal of Farmington High School. During this period, he continued post-graduate studies at the University of Connecticut, studying executive leadership and organizational design and development; he achieved certification as superintendent of schools. Following his tenure in Farmington, Kevin became high school principal in Cheshire, Connecticut.

Kevin is a lifelong Connecticut resident and the youngest of eight children. He has nineteen nieces and nephews. He enjoys time with family and has many hobbies, including exercise, skiing, reading, and cooking.

The Spire School, founded in 2010, is an accredited, co-ed, independent day school for intellectually capable students in grades 6 through 12. Integrating individualized education with a health and wellness curriculum, the Spire School helps students realize their academic potential and supports skill development to assist them in overcoming social and emotional difficulties.
