Greenwich Schools COO to Depart the District in April

Greenwich Schools superintendent Dr. Toni Jones announced to the district leadership (administrators, principals, assistant principals) on Feb 21 that COO Blaize Levitan had accepted the position of chief operating officer of Branford Public Schools, and will leave the Greenwich Public Schools effective Monday, April 29.

Mr. Levitan was appointed chief operating officer of the district in August 2022. He replaced Sean O’Keefe, who had departed the district. In his role for the school district, Levitan serves as the leader in finance and facilities and shares responsibility with the deputy superintendent, overseeing food services, transportation, school residency, and school safety and security.

Prior to joining Dr. Jones at Havemeyer, Levitan served as an administrator for the Town of Greenwich.

He served as the Dept of Parks and Recreation’s assistant director for two years, where he developed, presented, and implemented the annual operating and capital budgets and was directly responsible for the business operations and customer service teams.

Prior to that he worked in the Office of the First Selectman from 2017 through 2020 as a senior management analyst, playing a key role in the development and management of the annual town operating and capital budgets.

“While he will be greatly missed, the allure of working very close to home with his baby boy arriving any day was not something he could pass up,” Jones said.

“We wish him nothing but the best,” Jones continued, adding that the district’s search for a new chief operating officer will begin immediately.
