GPD Investigate after EMS Student Grabbed by Stranger and Released on Lockwood Rd

Greenwich Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones emailed public school families Thursday morning following an incident involving an Eastern Middle School student.

Jones said earlier in the morning the student reported having been approached by a stranger from behind on Lockwood Road, held for a few seconds, and then quickly released.

She added that the student rushed to the school and reported the incident immediately. School staff then called the Greenwich Police.

She said the student was unharmed, but understandably, very scared.

“We appreciate the diligence of the GPD in this manner for doing all they can to keep our community safe while they actively investigate,” Jones added. “We always recommend to any of our students that if they walk to school, that they walk with friends. They should always remain aware of their surroundings, limiting distractions such as cell phone use, whether it is walking to school or anywhere in the community.”

Jones said he Greenwich Police Department would be releasing a statement to the public and as further information become available there will be updates.

Around 11:15 GPD put a post on Facebook saying, “Officers are currently investigating an incident involving a juvenile victim in the area of Lockwood Road. At this time, no injuries have been reported.  The investigation remains active, and updates will be released when more information is available.”
