Trio Face Charges Related to Attempted Financial Crime on Greenwich Ave

On Wednesday afternoon Greenwich Police arrested three men on charges for alleged financial crime stemming from an incident in the area of Greenwich Ave.

Around 3:30pm, plainclothes officers observed behavior consistent with the suspects committing a financial crime. They detained the three suspects after investigation revealed Sacha Defrank, 45, of Ansonia conspired with Claudius Xavier Massop, 33 of Bronx, NY;  and Mark Shaw, 25, of Mount Vernon, NY to withdraw $3,500 from the victim’s account by impersonating a victim using a counterfeit driver’s license and debit card.

DeFrank was charged with:

Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 2
Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Impersonation
Criminal Impersonation
Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 2
Conspiracy to commit Forgery 3
Forgery 3
Interfering with Officer/Resisting

Mr. DeFreank was released on a promise to appear. He is due in court on Feb 19, 2025.

Mr. Massop was charged with:

Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3
Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 2
Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Impersonation
Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 2
Conspiracy to commit Forgery 3

His bond was set at $25,000, which he was able to post. He is due in court on Feb 19, 2025.

Mr. Shaw was charged with:

Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Impersonation

Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 2

His bond was set at $150,000 which he was unable to post.

Mr. Shaw is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Feb 19, 2025.
