Teen Charged with DUI after Crashing into Utility Pole

Jack James Portu, 18, of 10 The Ave in Greenwich was arrested on March 24 at about 11:15 pm following a crash on Stanwich Road.

According to Greenwich Police, Portu crashed a 2008 Honda Civic into a utility pole, flipping the car over and landing on its roof. According to Lt. Kraig Gray, the utility pole snapped in half and police closed the road for about an hour.

Upon further investigation, Portu was observed to have bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcoholic type beverage. He did not perform field sobriety tests to standard and was arrested for DUI and Failure to Drive right.

Portu was able to post a $250 bond, and he has a court date of April 8, 2016 in Stamford Superior Court.
