Stolen 2025 Land Rover from Greenwich Crashes in New York; Teens Charged

New York State Police issued a release on Friday saying that on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert was issued to surrounding agencies regarding a stolen 2025 Land Rover out of Greenwich, believed to be traveling northbound on I-684.

Shortly afterward, Troopers from NY State Police Somers observed a vehicle matching the description traveling at a high rate of speed in the northbound lanes of I-684. The vehicle was later located in the Town of Southeast, NY after it collided with the rear of a 2013 Mack truck operated by the New York State Dept of Transportation (DOT).

The driver of the stolen vehicle, an 18-year-old male, and his 17-year-old male passenger, both from Connecticut, fled the scene on foot into a wooded area. Following a brief foot pursuit, both individuals were apprehended by a New York State Trooper and K-9 Fortini, with assistance from the Village of Brewster Police Department.

The driver of the DOT truck and two DOT employees, who had been collecting traffic cones on I-684 at the time of the collision, were transported to a local medical facility for evaluation after reporting pain. The two occupants of the stolen vehicle were also transported to a local medical facility for medical evaluation.

Both occupants were charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Second Degree, a Class C Felony.

The driver was arraigned in the Village of Brewster Court and released on his own recognizance. The passenger was issued a Family Court appearance ticket.

This investigation remains ongoing.
