On April 15, 2026, at approximately 1:30am, Stamford Patrol Officers responded to the area of West Broad Street on a report of a robbery that had just occurred.
According to a post on their Facebook, Stamford Police said officers located a female victim who reported that while walking eastbound on the sidewalk, a male on a bicycle approached and forcibly grabbed her bag, causing her to fall to the ground. The suspect fled the scene after a brief struggle.
Thanks to the rapid response of our patrol officers and a coordinated “flood” of the surrounding area, officers quickly located a suspect matching the description nearby.
Following a systematic search, the individual was taken into custody without incident. The victim positively identified the suspect, and her belongings were recovered in the area.
The suspect Walter Delgado, 39, a Stamford resident, was arrested and charged with:
• Robbery 3rd Degree
• Assault 3rd Degree
• Larceny 3rd Degree
• Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree
• Breach of Peace
He was issued a $150,000 bond and assigned a court date of June 2, 2026.
This arrest highlights the effectiveness of immediate response, strong communication, and coordinated patrol efforts.
