Stamford Police announced they remain committed to their mission of arresting individuals responsible for the sale and delivery of the deadly drug fentanyl within our community.
In a press release this week, Captain Thomas Scanlon and Lieutenant Douglas Deiso wrote that on April 5, 2024, officers from the Stamford Police Patrol Division responded to a call at 79 Victory St., Apt. 3, regarding an unresponsive 34-year-old female found by her juvenile children in a bedroom chair. Emergency services personnel arrived shortly after and pronounced the female deceased. The victim was a resident of Stamford and lived at the location.
Also present in the apartment was a second female, identified as 31-year-old Ikea Grace of 53 North Beacon St., Waterbury, along with the victim’s two sons, ages 8 and 3.
During the initial investigation, detectives from the Major Crimes Unit discovered evidence of illicit drug use in the apartment, including what appeared to be Percocet pills, which were later confirmed to be fentanyl. In an interview with Grace, she revealed that she had met the victim a few days prior through a dating app and had supplied the pills, believing they may have been fentanyl rather than Percocet. Grace refused to disclose the source of the pills.
After completing forensic testing, Detective Marco Califano secured an arrest warrant for Ms Grace, charging her with supplying the fatal pills to the victim.
Ms Grace was apprehended in Milford after her vehicle was flagged by a License Plate Reader notification to Milford Police. She was taken into custody without incident and transported to Stamford, where she was processed and held on a $200,000 court-set bond for the charge of Manslaughter 2nd.
The Stamford Police Department extended its gratitude to Milford Police for their assistance and commends Detective Califano for his diligent work in bringing this tragic case to a successful conclusion.
