Stamford Man Charged with Murder

The Stamford Police Department announced that Michael A. James, Sr., age 53, of 36 Baxter Avenue in Stamford was arrested on Friday for the murder of Torrick Johnson.

Torrick Johnson was shot several times on the night of September 25, 2019. He died as a result of his injuries.

The Stamford Police Department was able to develop Michael A. James, Sr. as the shooter in this case. They say Mr. James shot the victim in this case three times, two of which were at close range.

Mr. James is being held on a $350,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on October 11, 2019.

He is charged with Murder, Assault in the 1st degree and Unlawful Discharge of a firearm. He was taken into custody this afternoon by Stamford Police Uniform Patrol Units shortly after the arrest warrant was signed.

“The Stamford Police Department hopes this arrest helps to give the victim’s family some semblance of justice in this case. We are proud of the actions of our uniform patrol division in how they handled the initial call for service, the Bureau of Criminal Investigations for bringing this case to such a quick resolution and thankful to the State’s Attorney’s Office for all their assistance,” Stamford Police said in a post on their Facebook page.
