Speeding Driver Crashes into Police Car during Radar Enforcement in Byram

Kristen Nicole Vacca, 21, of 564 Hances Point Rd in Northeast, MD, was arrested on Nov. 29 for Speeding, DUI and Failing to Signal Turns.

According to police in scene investigation revealed that Vacca was traveling east on Delavan Ave when she unsafely maneuvered her vehicle to the right and struck an unmarked Greenwich Police SUV, that was parked on the southern shoulder to conduct radar enforcement.

Prior to the collision, the police officer Vacca crashed into clocked her at 38mph in a 25mph zone.

While speaking with Vacca on the scene, Greenwich Police officers observed that she had glassy, red eyes, slow deliberate speech and the odor associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages emanating from her person and breath. She was unable to perform standardized field sobriety tests to standard and was arrested and charged with DUI, Unsafe Movement, and Traveling Unreasonably Fast.

Vacca posted a $250 bond and was released. She has a court date of Dec. 15, 2014 in Stamford Superior Court.
