Police Stop Audi Registered to a Volkswagen, Snag Passenger on Failure to Appear Charge

On Jan 7, Greenwich Police observed a black Audi A6 traveling south on Greenwich Avenue with a plate that was registered to a Volkswagen Passat.

Police stopped the car and investigation revealed that the car’s VIN number did not match the registration. The driver told police he was unaware.

During the investigation Police learned that a passenger in the car, Rakim H Ramsey, 26, of 151 Vine street in Hartford, had an active arrest warrant for failure to appear in court out of Manchester, CT.

Ramsey was charged accordingly and was released after posting his $300 bond.

He has a new court date in Manchester on Jan 22, 2019.

According to Lt David Nemecek, the driver of the Audi was cited for the Misuse of registration plates, and the vehicle was towed.
