Police: Mississippi Man Arrested after Traffic Stop Uncovers Loaded Pistol

A Mississippi man faces multiple charges after Greenwich Police stopped his car near the state line on Thursday morning.

Police pulled over Everette Leon Worthington, 38, of Silver City Mississippi, after he ran a stop sign in the area of West Putnam Ave near Byram Road.

During their investigation, police detected the odor of marijuana.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found a loaded 32 caliber pistol for which Worthington did not have a permit.

They also found glass containers of green leafy substance, which they later determined was 6.9 grams of marijuana.

Worthington was charged with Fail to Obey Traffic Control Sign, Possession of a Pistol without a Permit, Weapons in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana.

He has a court date in Stamford Superior Court on August 9, 2019. He was released on a $10,000 bond.
