Police Catch up with One of Four Suspects in Sephora Skirmish

Greenwich Police investigators went to the Queens County Criminal Court on Wednesday to take into custody Dakari A Smith, 20, of 9018 Ave L in Brooklyn, NY on an extraditable felony arrest warrant.

Smith was charged with Larceny 2-Take from Person, Larceny 4, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 4, and Robbery 3.

The charges stem back to an incident at Sephora on Greenwich Avenue last summer.

On July 22, 2017, three people went into Sephora and were confronted in the story before they took off with $1,500 of merchandise.

Darkari Smith is the first of the group who allegedly stole from Sephora on that Saturday in July.

“This was the first arrest,” Greenwich Police Lt Slusarz said of Mr. Smith’s arrest. He said Mr. Smith was responsible for the incident along with three women.

“They got confronted in the store, and there was a little pushing and shoving,” he said.

During the incident a store employee had his phone stolen by a suspect after attempting to use it to video tape the group of suspected shoplifters and follow them out of the store.

His bond was $50,000, which he was unable to post. He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on May 9, 2018.
