On Sunday April 7 just before midnight, Greenwich Police along with GEMS responded to the Merritt Parkway northbound near Exit 29 at Lake Ave on a report of a driver slumped over the wheel on the side of the highway.
Greenwich Police were able to locate the man in a silver Honda with heavy front end damage traveling south on Lake Ave near Old Mill Road.
While officers were speaking with the driver, identified as Anthony J Cangemi, 36, of Park Ave in White Plains, NY, and said he had no recollection of being involved in an accident. Police say he was speaking in a slurred and lethargic manner and was unsteady on his feet.
Cangemi was unable to perform field sobriety tests to standard. He was arrested and charged with DUI and Driving without a License.
He was assigned a court appearance in Stamford Superior Cour ton April 22. He was able to post his $1,500 cash bond.
